Subtext is a 2D top-down puzzle game built around the theme "We Don't See Things as They Are." On the surface, the physical world appears strictly bound by normal rules. Walls block your path and gaps trap you. However, by freezing time and entering "Subtext Mode," you strip away this visual facade to reveal the world's underlying code. In this metaphysical layer, you can see the literal metadata (tags) that govern how objects behave. By physically grabbing and swapping these hidden tags, you can fundamentally shift reality and bend the world to your will.

Input Controls Movement: Use W, A, S, D or the Arrow Keys to move your character around the level. Subtext View: Press TAB to switch between normal vision and the special view that reveals hidden words. Interact: Use Left Mouse Click, E, or the Spacebar to pick up a word and place it somewhere else. Undo: Press U to easily undo your last action or movement. You can do this as many times as you need.
